OUR STORY...

It all began 20 years ago in a modest canteen.

With the help of his family, Maxim Blahovec fulfilled his dream and opened a small pizzeria in the heart of Bratislava. They gave it an Italian name – Gatto Matto, meaning "crazy cat." To this day, the name fits perfectly, as there's always something happening here. Maxim gathered a team of the right people around him, led by his cousin Marek Mravec. Several other relatives joined in, and together they created a concept woven with family bonds.

Our inspiration comes from Italy. Not only from its cuisine but also from its way of life.

The Italian lifestyle, known as "Dolce Vita," is our greatest inspiration. We believe in the art of enjoying life and savoring every moment to the fullest. We strive to bring this principle into everything we do. This is how we create not only a friendly and relaxed atmosphere but also strong relationships with our guests.

We cook honestly, with love and our own identity.

At Gatto Matto, we let Italian traditions inspire us, while maintaining our unique essence. We focus on creating dishes that combine Italian recipes and techniques with our local, fresh ingredients. We prioritize our own production and local suppliers, with whom we build genuine friendships.

Focaccia, desserts, pasta, and much more – we make it all ourselves in the heart of the Old Town. Our suppliers are our extended family, carefully chosen. We're proud of our winemakers; we know their vineyards, their grapes, and their craft. You'll meet us at various events at the family winery Terra Parna. We also take joy in craft beer, the beloved Vlčie sirupy, and coffee blend from Slovak roasters – Kaffa.

Just as every family member is unique, Gatto Matto has three different faces – three restaurants, each offering something different, where everyone can find their own favorite. Yet our goal is always the same: to provide the best possible experience, because our guests come first. Together with you, we evolve, learn, and grow.
